Sheep workflows, web parity, and smarter data entry

A big polish-and-features push focused on sheep workflows, web parity, and cutting down manual data entry.

Sheep & breeding

  • Wool withholding tracked end-to-end. Apply a chemical with a wool withholding period (e.g. dip, pour-on) and the affected mob is flagged automatically. Try to create a shearing record for that mob and you’ll see an “under wool withholding until {date}” warning before you start — so you don’t accidentally produce an unsellable clip.
  • Pregnancy scanning has its own home. Dedicated Scanning tab in the Lambing dashboard. Records singles / twins / triplets / dry properly (not as a generic “test event”) so lambing predictions stay accurate.
  • Tupping form rebuild. Mob picker (no more typing the mob ID by heart). Sire picker pulls from your registered rams. Crayon picker now includes a “None” option, supports recording multiple colour changes through a single tupping, and the Rams Crayon Change date is captured.
  • Wool Production filtered to sheep only. Cattle / deer / goat mobs no longer clutter the shearing flock picker.

Animal health & compliance

  • Three-axis withholding on health events. Meat / milk / wool are separate fields now — so you can record a wool-only treatment (external dip) without it also flagging meat or milk.
  • Range-mode mobs work in treatments. Apply a treatment to a tag range (e.g. ABC1000–ABC2000) and the withholding propagates correctly across the mob, including legacy mobs without per-animal records.
  • Chemical Register pickers got smarter. When you’re recording a health event, you only see medicines (no more wading past urea or fertilisers). When you’re applying fert or spray, you only see paddock chemicals. Disposed items hidden from pickers everywhere.
  • Apply Previous Entry button on the Chemical Register add form. Copies your most recent storage location / supplier / withholding values so you don’t retype everything.
  • Disposal capture upgraded. Dispose a chemical → captures the date + method properly. Audit trail intact.

Animal Registry

  • Per-axis withholding chips, badges, and stat tiles across iOS + Android + web. Each animal shows separate Milk / Meat / Wool badges with their safe-to-handle dates. Filter the list by any axis. Bulk-clear withholdings when needed.
  • Milk Withholding hidden on sheep / beef farms. Only shows on dairy. Less noise.

Purchases & Sales

  • Android brought to full parity with iOS. Transport date, transport company, contact name + phone, and the entire Documents step with photo upload. Photos taken on Android show up on iOS and the web admin.
  • Species-aware sex + age class pickers. Pick Sheep → only sheep sex + age options. Pick Cattle → only cattle. Lamb / Calf moved out of Sex (live in Age Class now).

Mobile UX polish

  • Births “+” button moved to the top right on iOS + Android. No more hidden-behind-the-bottom-nav.
  • Map screen UI cleaned up. Collapsed 13 cluttered FABs into a sensible toolbar with proper labels.

Web (admin portal)

  • Stock Count event correctly reduces the flock tally. Was a silent compliance bug — recording 200 on a flock showing 250 now properly updates.
  • “View animals in this mob” opens a clean filtered list. Replaces the broken layered view.
  • Mob Move events use a paddock dropdown for destination. Instead of free-text — fewer typos, faster entry.
  • Map infrastructure cleanup. Duplicate Building / Buildings categories merged. Culvert + Bridge added as marker types. Infrastructure area shading uses diagonal lines so you can still see the paddock underneath.

Animal & flock management

  • NZFAP-Plus tag range support for whole mobs. ABC1000–ABC2000 instead of 1001 individual records.
  • Animal Registry overhaul with cursor-based pagination. Handles huge mobs without slowing down.
  • Mob, flock, and range linking with proper range-animal pickers throughout.

Compliance dashboard

  • Faster load with offline support. Open the dashboard on a paddock with no signal and it still works from cached data.
  • NAIT, NZFAP, GIA, GAP compliance reports. All generated to PDF, ready to send to your auditor.
  • SDS upload with error feedback. No more silent failures.

Operations

  • Effluent tracking per pod application (not just per paddock). With proper withholding alerts.
  • Fertiliser screen renamed to “Fertiliser & Effluent” and consolidated.
  • Health event notifications scoped properly. Flock or range, not just paddock.
  • Staff roster with off-day notifications.

Map & infrastructure

  • Paddock split / combine. Inheritance of fert + effluent history.
  • Pest control layer for shooting + trapping records.
  • Equipment pod tracking for effluent monitoring.

What's coming next

  • Individual treatments within a range mob (treat one specific tag without affecting the rest).
  • Mobile create flow for infrastructure markers (currently web-only).
  • Birthing form variants with paddock link (sheep + beef).
  • Mob splits / merges visible in flock history.
  • More farmer-requested polish.
